Selling Sunset’s Mary Bonnet Says It Would Take “A Lot” to Reconcile With Chelsea Lazkani
Mary Bonnet says it would take “a lot” for her and Chelsea Lazkani to become close again following the fallout seen on Selling Sunset season 9, but she hasn’t completely closed the door on the possibility. “Because a lot has happened. Hence my responses to things where I’m like, ‘No, I’m not getting involved again,’” Mary said while reflecting on their strained relationship.
Mary, 45, also addressed ongoing criticism of her behavior on the season, claiming viewers did not see the full context behind her reactions. “They edited it. I really got a bad edit this time,” she told Us Weekly at the T-Mobile exclusive unveiling at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. “Because there was so much that happened.” She added that her emotional state was heavily influenced by a recent home robbery. “My reactions were justified. They just didn’t show what it was.”
“My emotions were heightened because I had just been robbed,” Mary explained. “I was barely sleeping. I was watching as our neighbors were getting robbed, like every night, so I was watching the cameras.” She added, “I’m sure I was emotional and not normal — just with everything going on… but there were legit reasons behind everything.”
Season 9, which premiered in October, opened with Mary and Chelsea not on speaking terms. Later in the season, after Mary’s home was burglarized, Chelsea sent her flowers and a note — a moment that aired on the show. However, Mary said the gesture only increased her frustration. “I was on edge because of the robbery and then the flowers came, and I was like, ‘Chelsea didn’t even know when I was filming. She doesn’t know my address,’” she said, adding that she questioned whether production orchestrated the moment.
That tension later escalated during a group dinner, prompting Selling Sunset co-owner Brett Oppenheim to step in and ask producers to stop filming. Mary later suggested that important context from that confrontation was left out of the episode, contributing to what she feels was a misleading portrayal.
