Comedian Andy Dick, 59, Reportedly Suffers Apparent Overdose on. Hollywood Street, Says He’s “Alive and Okay”
Comedian Andy Dick has reportedly suffered an apparent overdose on a Hollywood street, according to a new report. On Tuesday, Dec. 9, the 59-year-old was photographed slumped over a set of stairs outside a building in Hollywood, with friends appearing to attempt to help him, TMZ reported.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene after receiving a call about a possible overdose involving a 59-year-old man, an LAFD representative told TMZ. The department did not confirm the man’s identity but said he was not transported to a hospital. The Los Angeles Police Department also arrived to provide assistance, according to the outlet.
TMZ further reported that Dick later spoke with the outlet and said he was “alive and okay,” but he did not share any additional details about what happened. PEOPLE noted that it has not independently confirmed the report and that Dick’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The magazine added that it has also reached out to the LAPD.
Dick, who is a father of three adult children — sons Jacob and Lucas and daughter Meg — has a long history of substance abuse issues and prior arrests connected to alcohol and drugs. He has previously spoken about his struggles with addiction and has had multiple legal run-ins over the years.
