Mike Epps Lands 5th Netflix Stand-Up Special, ‘Delusional’
@thejasminebrand : Comedian Mike Epps has signed a new deal with Netflix for his upcoming stand-up special, Delusional, which is set to debut on the streaming platform on January 27. The project marks Epps’ fifth comedy special with Netflix, following Ready to Sell Out (2024), Indiana Mike (2022), Only One Mike (2019), and Don’t Take It Personal (2015).
In Delusional, Epps reflects on how “a little delusion and a lot of hustle” helped shape his journey to stardom. The special is directed by Royale Watkins, who also serves as a producer alongside Ron Allchin. Executive producers on the project include Mark A. Ritchie, Thomas Cobb, Niles Kirchner, Kyra Epps, and Watkins, with Southpaw Productions listed as the production company.
Epps began his stand-up career in 1995 with an appearance on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, a series he later returned to as host. Over the years, he has released multiple comedy specials, including Under Rated… Never Faded, X-Rated, and Inappropriate Behavior, bringing his total number of specials to six prior to Delusional.
More recently, Epps has starred in and executive produced Netflix’s sitcom The Upshaws, which centers on a working-class family in his hometown of Indiana. The series earned 10 NAACP Image Award nominations, and Epps won Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series in 2024.
His television credits also include appearances on I’m a Virgo, Survivor’s Remorse, and Winning Time. On the film side, Epps has appeared in projects such as The Underdoggs, You People, Dolemite Is My Name opposite Eddie Murphy, Troop Zero, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, HBO’s Emmy-winning biopic Bessie, Girls Trip, and multiple installments of The Hangover and Resident Evil franchises.
With Delusional set for release later this month, Epps continues to build on a career that spans stand-up, television, and film.
