RHOSLC Star Jen Shah Sued Texas Prison Warden Over Confinement Ahead of Her Release
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah filed a lawsuit against a Texas prison warden shortly before being released from federal custody, alleging she was improperly confined despite earning a sentence reduction, Us Weekly reports.
In court filings, Shah said she completed the Bureau of Prisons’ Residential Drug Abuse Program while incarcerated, which qualified her for a 12-month reduction to her sentence. The program consists of nine months of “highly regimented programming, including daily treatment groups, individual counseling, written assignments, behavioral contracts and strict compliance with program rules.” Shah stated that she graduated from the program on August 5.
According to Shah’s petition, prison officials later attempted to rescind the sentence credit she earned through the program. Shah said she objected and demanded the credit be applied to her sentence. In response, the prison warden asked the court to dismiss Shah’s lawsuit, arguing it lacked legal standing and stating that Shah was scheduled to be released in August 2026.
On October 3, Shah responded to the warden in court, claiming she remained in custody due to the prison’s “inconsistent administration of its own policies.” A judge had not yet ruled on the matter before Shah was released from the Texas facility.
A representative for the prison told Us Weekly, “We do not comment on pending litigation, matters that are the subject of legal proceedings, or ongoing investigations.” The rep confirmed Shah’s transfer on December 10, 2025, stating, “We can confirm that Jennifer Shah transferred on December 10, 2025, from the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan to community confinement overseen by the Bureau of Prisons’ (BOP) Phoenix Residential Reentry Management (RRM) Office.”
The spokesperson added, “Community confinement means the inmate is in either home confinement or a Residential Reentry Center (RRC, or halfway house).” According to the Bureau of Prisons, Shah’s projected release date from community confinement is August 30, 2026.
