Billy Porter Updates Fans Following Hospitalization For Sepsis: ‘Very Challenging 4 Months’
TJBCrew, remember to keep Billy Porter in your prayers.
The 56-year-old actor has shared a health update after spending part of the past four months recuperating from a serious case of urosepsis, a severe infection that began in his urinary tract and led to a hospital stay this fall. In a video message, Porter said he had been “very ill” and described his recent experience as difficult, noting, “It was not easy. It’s been a very, very challenging four months.” Though he says he’s still not fully recovered, he emphasized that he is progressing and “on the road to a full recovery,” thanking fans for their support and love throughout his ordeal.
Billy Porter’s illness forced him to withdraw from his role as the Emcee in #Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club on Broadway in September, bringing that production to an early close. In his holiday message, he added gratitude for the encouragement he’s received, saying, “I wanted to thank everybody for your prayers and your love and sending me all the vibes. I felt every single one of them.” He also shared a light-hearted caption on social media celebrating his progress as he promotes his Amazon Prime film Christmas Karma and continues his recovery.
