Lil Yachty Says He’s ‘Grateful’ To Be Among The Few US Rappers Signed To Nike, Alongside Drake & Travis Scott
#LilYachty is counting his blessings.
During a recent appearance, the rapper spoke about just how “prestigious” the Nike brand truly is. Yachty, who has a deal with the apparel giant, pointed out how rare it is for American rappers to earn Nike’s backing. “Even at this moment, it’s about only three or four rappers signed to Nike in America,” he said, before pausing for applause and adding, “It’s #Drake, Travis Scott, and me.”
Kanye West is widely credited as Nike’s first major non-athlete to receive a full signature shoe line with the launch of the Air Yeezy series in 2009, though he later parted ways with the brand and moved to #Adidas. Kendrick Lamar is another notable rapper who has collaborated with Nike over the years; however, his deal doesn’t seem to be exclusive.
What other rappers would you like to see work with Nike?
