Tax Debt – Could This Finally Speed Up Cardi B Divorce?
#CardiB and Offset might be one step closer to finalizing their divorce.
Offset has taken a major financial step in the midst of his ongoing divorce from Cardi B by paying off a $1.5 million federal tax debt, according to filings obtained by US Weekly. The Internal Revenue Service released a lien tied to his 2022 taxes after the debt was settled on Dec. 26, 2025, removing a large burden that had been in place since April 2024. This move significantly reduces Offset’s outstanding federal tax obligations, even though some state liens remain unresolved.
The timing of the payment is noteworthy, as Cardi alluded last fall that #Offset was the one holding up their divorce. She said during a live stream, “The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes,” and later added, “I’m not gonna live my life on a contract … because somebody wanna hold me hostage if I don’t give them millions of dollars to get out of it.”
Hopefully, clearing this debt marks a major step toward officially closing the chapter on their marriage.
