Akon Tapped To Perform At Afterparty For Melania Trump’s Documentary Screening
Akon is set to take the stage at an upcoming afterparty celebrating Melania Trump.
#MelaniaTrump’s self-titled documentary film is set to be released tomorrow (Jan. 30). The project follows the first lady during the 20 days leading up to #DonaldTrump’s second presidential inauguration. To mark the occasion, Page Six reports that the Trump family is hosting not one, but two afterparties following the Washington, D.C., screening.
One event is described as an exclusive, invite-only gathering for about 250 “pretty significant people.” According to a source, the soirée is geared toward industry insiders and is considered “the official, proper producers party.” The second afterparty, still invite-only, has a “business attire” dress code and will take place at Donald Trump Jr.’s members-only club, the Executive Branch. Guests there can expect a live performance from #Akon.
While the singer hasn’t released new music recently, he’s likely to perform fan favorites such as Smack That, Lonely, and I Wanna Love You. Earlier this week, Akon announced a joint tour with Ne-Yo, set to kick off in Dublin on April 17 before heading stateside in July. It’s unclear whether #NeYo or any other artists will join Akon onstage during the afterparty performance.
