Today Anchor Savannah Guthrie’s Mother Missing as Cops Flag “Concerning Evidence” in Search

Savannah Guthrie, a longtime anchor on NBC’s Today, is facing a deeply personal crisis after her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing from her Arizona home under unsettling circumstances.

Authorities say Nancy was last seen Saturday night near her residence in the Catalina Foothills area outside Tucson. A family member contacted law enforcement the following day after being unable to reach or locate her.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department quickly launched an intensive search, deploying deputies, search-and-rescue teams, helicopters, and drones across nearby terrain. Officials classified Nancy as a “vulnerable adult” due to health concerns, though they noted there is no indication of cognitive impairment.

The case took a more alarming turn when homicide detectives were brought in after investigators discovered what they described as “concerning evidence” at Nancy’s home. While authorities have not disclosed details, they confirmed foul play has not been ruled out.

Sheriff Chris Nanos acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, saying the nature of the evidence prompted additional investigative resources. He emphasized that the search remains active and that all possibilities are being examined.

Savannah has not publicly addressed her mother’s disappearance. A spokesperson confirmed the Today anchor and her family are cooperating fully with law enforcement and asked for privacy as the search continues, urging anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
