Beyoncé Says She Doesn’t Use Relaxers, Prioritizes Heat Protection in New CÉCRED Styling Line
Beyoncé is taking her haircare brand to the next level — and she says the products were built under real pressure.
The superstar’s CÉCRED brand has unveiled a new styling collection designed to deliver everything from “big-body blowouts” to “glass-like silky hair,” heatless curls, braid-outs and slick backs — all while protecting hair from damage.
According to the brand, the collection is powered by its StemShield Complex, which shields against heat up to 450°F, humidity, pollution and styling-related damage, helping hair stay “healthy and resilient.”
But for Beyoncé, the real testing ground wasn’t a lab — it was the stage. She revealed she used the products throughout her Cowboy Carter Tour, where conditions pushed her hair to the limit.
“People assume my fans on stage are blowing just for the drama and hairography, but the heat under those lights gets real,” she said. “I need products strong enough to keep my style while keeping it weightless enough to take flight.”
She added that the formulas were years in the making, explaining, “It’s taken years with lots of trial and error to find the best formulas. We have put each one of these to the test and I use it on my daughters before everything: blow dry, silk press, braid-out.”
Beyoncé also made it clear the collection was born out of necessity. “A lot of these products were designed from a desire to solve my own issues with my hair while on tour,” she said. “I don’t use relaxers, so I’m very big on protecting the hair from heat damage when I style.”
With unpredictable tour conditions — from “pouring rain” to “crazy humidity” and even “100 degree weather” — she said durability was non-negotiable. “I’m drenched in sweat and those styles must make it through a three-hour show,” she explained, adding, “I wasn’t finding stylers that could perform at the necessary level without affecting my hair health.”
The CÉCRED styling collection drops March 19 on cecred.com, with a wider rollout at Ulta Beauty set for April.
