Doja Cat Says She Sometimes Tries To Look ‘Ugly In Public To Deter Fans & Paparazzi From Filming Her
#DojaCat has a clever way of keeping her peace when she’s out in public.
Like many celebrities, she’s shared her frustration with overzealous fans and paparazzi constantly trying to capture her everyday life. Some stars go incognito with disguises or even have stores shut down just to avoid the chaos, but Doja has found a “creative way” to fly under the radar.
Speaking with Vogue, she said, “It makes me so upset. Will I go up to somebody and be like, ‘Stop f*cking filming me,’ and cuss them out? No, I’m not going to do that.” Instead, Doja said she’ll “sometimes try to look purposefully ugly” to keep any unwanted attention away.
She also reflected on the challenges of maintaining personal boundaries as a public figure. “It’s when you want to do things, just regular mundane sh*t, and people feel they’re owed a photo, or your attention, or your smile, a disposition from you. That is the most fascinating part of it for me personally.”
At the end of the day, for Doja, it seems to just be about doing what’s necessary to protect her sanity.
