Roc Nation’s Insurance Company Sues CEO Desiree Perez, Says It’s Not Responsible For Her Legal Fees As Court Battle w/ Daughter
Continues
#RocNation is facing another twist in the ongoing legal dispute involving its CEO #DesireePerez and her daughter, as the company’s insurer is refusing to cover mounting legal costs.
According to documents obtained by Billboard, the insurer says the lawsuit stems from a deeply personal family conflict rather than company business. The company argues the claims are tied to a “strictly personal” matter and not related to Perez’s role at Roc Nation, pushing back on any obligation to fund her defense.
ICYMI: Perez and her daughter, Demoree Hadley, have been locked in a legal battle since last year, when she sued Hadley’s husband, Javon Hadley. Perez claimed her son-in-law had her daughter trapped in a “dangerously abusive relationship” and feared he could end Hadley’s life. Hadley denied those allegations in her own lawsuit against her mother, claiming Perez “used her money, power, and influence to tear the Hadleys apart.”
In court filings, the insurer made clear it “has no duty to defend or indemnify” Perez in the case, reinforcing its stance that the dispute falls outside policy protections. As the legal fight continues, the insurer is now seeking a formal ruling to confirm it won’t be responsible for any legal fees or potential damages tied to the case. A judge has yet to rule.
