“The Vampire Diaries” Actress Kat Graham Reveals Her Appearance As Diana Ross Was Cut From Michael Jackson Biopic Over ‘Legal Considerations’
Sad news for those who were excited to see #KatGraham as Diana Ross in Michael.
The actress, best known for her role as Bonnie Bennett in The Vampire Diaries, revealed early this morning (Apr. 23) that her portrayal of #DianaRoss in the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic was ultimately cut due to what she described as “legal considerations.” She added, “the team worked hard to preserve as much of the story as possible.”
At this time, details on what led to Kat’s scenes being cut are unclear, and Diana Ross has yet to speak on the situation. Kat’s confession comes on the heels of La Toya Jackson confirming that her sister Janet Jackson “kindly declined” to be portrayed in her movie at all, which is set to showcase the early years of Michael’s career. Last year, Michael’s daughter, Paris Jackson, called out production for allegedly overlooking her notes on the film, saying, “The narrative is being controlled and there’s a lot of inaccuracy and there’s a lot of just full-blown lies. At the end of the day, that doesn’t really fly with me. Go enjoy it. Do whatever. Leave me out of it.” While Paris later wished her cousin #JaafarJackson, who portrays her father in the movie, success, she and Janet were both missing from the premiere.
#Michael hits theaters Friday, April 24.
