Former ‘RHOBH’ Star Garcelle Beauvais Says A Castmate Wanted To ‘Keep Race Out Of Her Storyline: Don’t You Want To See My Reality, Too?

Garcelle Beauvais is getting candid about an uncomfortable conversation she says took place before her second season on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

During a recent radio interview, Garcelle reflected on being asked out for drinks by one of her fellow housewives. At first, she thought the meet-up would be a chance for them to bond and talk about the upcoming season.

Yeah, we’re just, you know, connect. We’re going to connect. Right,” Garcelle said.

However, the conversation allegedly took a surprising turn when the housewife brought up race.

Host Julia Cunningham recounted the moment, saying, “She asks you, can we keep race out of it? It’s an entertaining show.

When asked if that made her consider walking away from the series, Garcelle admitted she was caught off guard.

I didn’t think about walking away then, but I was very taken aback by that because I show up and my race shows up with me,” she said.

Garcelle continued, “If this is truly reality, don’t you want to see my reality, too?

She added that while she doesn’t make race her entire identity, it also cannot be ignored.

I mean, obviously, I don’t wear it like we have to, you know, Black power. That’s not who I am. But at the same time, you can negate who I am. Yes. And what I bring in my experience.”

Garcelle called the exchange “a tough one, honestly,” making it clear that her identity and lived experiences are part of the reality she brings to the show.
