Soulja Boy Reminds Fans He Dropped Three Projects In One Day Years Before Drake: ‘Crazy To See Stuff That I Did Still Being Done’

Soulja Boy is making it clear that his influence is still showing up in hip-hop’s rollout playbook.

While speaking with Hip-Hop Wired during Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bashin Atlanta, Big Draco was recognized for being one of the earliest rappers to release three projects in one day. The conversation comes as Drake recently made headlines for dropping three albums at once: “Iceman,” Habibti,” and “Maid of Honour.”

When asked whether he believed Drake was watching every move he made, Soulja Boy stopped short of calling it a copycat move.

To be honest, it could be a coincidence. You just gotta ask him. ‘Hey man, did Soulja inspire you?’”

He added: “It’s crazy to see stuff that I did still being done to this day.”

Soulja Boy’s claim dates back to October 30, 2009, when he released three mixtapes in one day: “Paranormal Activity,” “Dat Piff,” and “Cortez.” While the projects are often referred to as “albums” in online debates, they are more accurately documented as mixtapes.

Still, Soulja has long argued that he helped shape the internet-driven rap era, from viral dances to digital-first promotion.

Do you think Drake took a page out of Soulja’s book?
