Peabo Bryson’s voice helped soundtrack generations of love stories, and now fans are mourning the loss of the legendary R&B balladeer.
The two-time Grammy winner passed away Tuesday, June 2, in Marietta, Georgia, at 75, just days after his representative confirmed he suffered a stroke. His team said he “transitioned peacefully at 5:00 p.m. ET” while surrounded by family and loved ones.
His family shared, “We are tremendously moved by the outpouring of love, prayers and support from fans, friends, and colleagues around the world. While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing how deeply Peabo was loved and how many lives were touched by his voice and his generous spirit. His legacy and music will live on for generations to come.”
Bryson rose from Greenville, South Carolina, to become one of R&B’s most beloved voices, earning Grammys for “Beauty and the Beast” with Céline Dion and “A Whole New World” with Regina Belle. He is survived by his wife, Tanya, his children, Robert and Linda, and three grandchildren.
