Six People Stabbed In Attack At Penn Station In New York, Suspect In Custody
Scary news!
A stabbing at New York’s #PennStation Sunday evening (June 7) left six people injured. The attack happened around 7 p.m. near the West 33rd Street and 7th Avenue entrance to Penn Station, which sits directly below the Garden. One victim suffered serious injuries, while four others sustained moderate to minor injuries, all of whom were transported to Bellevue Hospital. A sixth victim was taken to a separate hospital. Authorities confirmed none of the injuries were life-threatening. A suspect, who may be unhoused according to law enforcement, was taken into custody after witnesses say officers pepper-sprayed and tackled him at the scene.
The timing of the attack added an extra layer of tension to an already high-security situation. Monday (June 8) marks the first time the #NBA Finals have come to Madison Square Garden since 1999, with the #NewYorkKnicks hosting the San Antonio Spurs for Games 3 and 4. Authorities had already put an aggressive security plan in place ahead of Trump’s attendance, including extra officer deployments, increased camera monitoring, heightened intelligence sharing, and even drone deployments. New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed there was no impact on #Amtrak service and issued a statement expressing his support for the victims while praising first responders for their quick action. Amtrak police confirmed an investigation is currently underway.
