‘Beyond The Gates’ Star Clifton Davis Admits He Didn’t Expect The CBS Soap To Be ‘Such A Hit’
Clifton Davis is celebrating the breakout success of “Beyond the Gates” and giving credit to the team behind the CBS daytime drama.
Davis, who stars as Vernon Dupree, recently told PEOPLE he had no idea the series would connect with viewers the way it has.
“I didn’t expect this and for it to be such a hit,” Davis said. “The lovely thing for me is that it is so diverse, and everybody is giving so much of themselves.”
The actor also praised the entire production team, saying the show’s success is “evidenced by the fact that CBS picked us up for two more years already.”
Beyond the Gates, which premiered in February 2025, has made history as the first hour-long daytime drama led by a Black cast. Looking ahead, Davis said, “I am so thrilled” about what’s next, teasing, “But [the storyline] excites me, so I know it’s going to excite you.”
