Rickey Smiley Checks Oprah Following Claim That Whitney Houston Was High On Her Talk Show, Says Oprah & Gayle King Are ‘Out Of Touch With The Blac Community
#RickeySmiley is the latest person putting Oprah Winfrey on blast over her comments about Whitney Houston.
#Oprah’s been catching heat after claiming Whitney was so high during a 2009 appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show that she allegedly “fell off the stage” mid-performance. Oprah said she jumped into damage control mode, claiming she “begged” the studio audience not to leak footage because Whitney would’ve been “destroyed” if the moment got out.
Rickey Smiley weighed in during a livestream, saying even if the story is true, there was no reason to bring it up now. He also dragged #GayleKing into the convo, claiming both she and Oprah are “out of touch with the Black community.” His take mirrors much of the online backlash, with folks questioning why Oprah would even share a story like that in the first place. Meanwhile, #WhitneyHouston’s estate is shutting it all down, denying Oprah’s relapse claims outright.
