Savannah Guthrie’s Mom Nancy D!ed Shortly After Abduction, Was Buried In Nature, Ransom Note Claims Dath Was Accidental
Authorities investigating the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, have publicly released the full text of two ransom notes in hopes that someone will recognize the writing style or identify the person responsible.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the first note demanded $4 million in Bitcoin and threatened Nancy’s life if the money wasn’t paid by a specified deadline. A second message, sent several days later, claimed Nancy d!ed shortly after her abduction due to an undisclosed heart condition, insisting her d3ath was accidental and that she had been “buried in nature.” Investigators have not verified the claim, and Nancy has still not been found.
Sheriff Chris Nanos said the decision to release the letters came after months of investigation, with detectives believing the wording, phrasing, or handwriting could trigger someone’s memory. Officials are urging the public to carefully review the notes and report anything that seems familiar.
Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson-area home in February. Surveillance footage released by investigators shows a masked individual outside her home before the apparent abduction, while blood found inside the residence was confirmed to be Nancy’s. Authorities continue to analyze DNA evidence, and the FBI remains actively involved in the case. The Guthrie family has offered a $1 million reward, with the FBI adding $100,000, for information leading to Nancy’s recovery or those responsible.
