J. Cole Cancels Concert After Tour Crew Member Is K!lled In Truck Crash While Transporting Show Equipment
J. Cole canceled his Sacramento concert after a member of his touring crew was k!lled in a trucking accident while transporting equipment for the rapper’s show.
The rapper was scheduled to perform at Golden 1 Center on Thursday (Aug. 27), but the show was called off following the f@tal crash. Cole’s team said in a statement, “Following the tragic passing of a member of the touring crew in a trucking accident this morning,” the performance had been canceled, adding, “Our thoughts are with the crew member’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.” The crew member has since been identified as 66-year-old Jarlath Parkinson of Jackson, South Carolina. Authorities say Parkinson was driving a big rig carrying equipment from J. Cole’s previous tour stop in Seattle when the truck overturned on Interstate 5 near Woodland, California, shortly after 6 a.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck drifted onto the shoulder before Parkinson apparently attempted to steer back onto the freeway and lost control. Authorities said distraction or fatigue are among the possibilities being investigated. No other vehicles were involved. Parkinson was pulled from the truck, but did not survive.
Fans who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will automatically receive refunds. It is unclear whether the Sacramento show will be rescheduled. J. Cole’s The Fall-Off World Tour is currently scheduled to continue with upcoming California dates. We send our condolences to his family and friends.
