Comedian Druski Recalls Watching His Brother Be B3aten & Mother Ch0ked By His Father, Says Comedy Became His Coping Mechanism

Comedian Druski is opening up about the painful experiences behind his sense of humor, revealing that comedy became a coping mechanism while growing up in a home where he says he witnessed his father ab*se members of his family.

Druski recalled watching his brother receive a severe b3ating for wetting the bed, saying the punishment went far beyond what he considered normal discipline. He explained that he would try to step in during or after difficult moments and eventually found himself using humor to help his family cope.

I would always try to be, ‘Oh, the funny guy,’ maybe at the dinner after or maybe after the next day goes by, and I’m trying to lift everybody’s vibe up.”

Druski also recalled witnessing frightening incidents involving his mother. While clarifying that he didn’t see his father h*t her, he said he witnessed “the ch0king” as well as his mother being pushed outside and locked out of the home. He remembered being caught between his parents as a child, unsure whether he should open the door for his mother despite his father warning him not to.

The comedian also spoke about how he and his brother processed their childhood differently. Druski shared that his brother was later diagnosed with sch•zophrenia and bipolar disorder and said he believes their early experiences may have played a role in his brother’s struggles. Speaking from his own perspective rather than making a medical determination, Druski said, “For me, I feel like I might’ve found a coping mechanism with comedy,” adding that he believes his humor came from trying to bring some relief to an extremely difficult situation.
