LeBron James’ Business Partner Maverick Carter Wants $25K Monthly Child Support Cut To $0, Ex Seeks Increase To $35K

LeBron James’ longtime business partner and childhood friend Maverick Carter is battling his ex, Crystal Streets, over child support for their 18-year-old daughter. According to court TMZ, Carter has asked a judge to reduce his current $25,000-a-month obligation to $0.

Carter reportedly argues that their daughter attends boarding school full-time and that he covers the cost himself. He claims Streets has little “meaningful” custodial time with their daughter because she lives at school, while maintaining that he isn’t trying to avoid supporting her and “pay[s] for everything [she] needs directly.” Carter also noted that his daughter turned 18 in July and argues the court no longer has jurisdiction over her custody.

Streets is pushing back and wants Carter’s support payments increased to $35,000 per month until their daughter graduates. She reportedly claims Carter is worth more than $100 million and says the pair previously agreed to the higher payment in 2024, though it was never finalized. Streets also disputes Carter’s characterization of her involvement, saying she continues providing emotional support, coordinating their daughter’s travel and helping meet her needs while she attends boarding school.

The filings also reportedly include a December 2025 email in which Carter allegedly told Streets, “Dealing with you is the only thing bad about my life,” adding that he would be happy when their dealings were over. Following a Sept. 15 hearing, the court has temporarily suspended Carter’s child-support payments for three months while the judge considers the dispute. No final ruling has been issued.
