Roberto Cavalli Defends Beyonce Sketch: ‘We’d like to clarify the image….’
What began as a simple sketch by designer Roberto Cavalli, has pissed a few fans off. Earlier this week, the designer’s camp shared an illustration sketch of a gown worn by Beyonce during her Mrs. Carter Show. While the flow and colors of the gown seem to illustrate the intricate details, some felt like whoever drew the sketch totally missed the mark on not including Bey’s curves or physique. In short, people thought the sketch had the singer looking rail thin, in the leg and arm department. Fans and critics quickly hopped on twitter, sounding off and apparently, Cavalli took notice.
This afternoon, he released the following message on his Facebook page:
Dear Fans, We would like to clarify that the image of the gown created by Roberto Cavalli for Beyoncé is a sketch and not a photo, and therefore it is only meant to be a stylized and artistic vision. Roberto Cavalli loves women and more than anyone else has always exalted and highlighted the female shape with his creations, building his signature style on the glorification of sensuality and femininity.
What are YOUR thoughts? Are folks being too sensitive about the sketch? Or should Cavalli’s camp be more responsible with how they portray a woman’s body, even if it’s in a form of a sketch? And do you think Bey’s image was intentionally altered?

People have too much time on their hands. Period, it’s a drawing if you’re going to start complaining about a sketch …a sketch that has been the norm for designers for decades then close the box. I think people are too fragile.
I agree! The people complaining do not have a clue about sketches or what designers do!!! Knock it off already!!
Ppl are definitely being too sensitive. It’s a sketch. It’s not photoshopped pic. Take a tall glass of calm down.
I agree – it just a sketch!
