Jay-Z Says Being Fatherless Left Him Without Knowing How to Love A Woman, Or Be a Dad

Slowly, but surely, Jay-Z seems to be letting us in on married life and being a father as he gears up for his new album. ‘Magna Carter Holy Grail’ will be in stores next week and the rapper/businessman has released another trailer video for songs inspired by daughter, Blue Ivy. In the ‘Jay-Z Blue ‘trailer, he talks with producer Rick Rubin about the song on balancing married life and how growing up without a father has affected his life.

She’s [Blue Ivy] something that we both created; we still marvel her. My pop left when I was young, so he didn’t teach me how to be a man, nor how to raise a child, or treat a woman. So, of course, my karma, the two things I need, I don’t have. And I have a daughter. It’s the paranoia of not being a great dad.

In the ‘Heaven’ trailer, he also addresses the concept of heaven and hell explaining:

For me, my idea of heaven is in your daughter’s laughter; hell could be if your child is missing for three minutes–you’re in three minutes of hell…It’s just not my belief that a just God would make you burn for eternity for [the] free will that he gave you.

Mr. Carter will be performing at NYC’s Times Square on the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theatre on July 8. ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ will feature Nas, Frank Ocean, Justin Timberlake and wife Beyoncé . The album will be available for Samsung Galaxy users on July 4 and then worldwide release July 7. Jay-Z is also set to tour with Timberlake on the ‘Legends of Summer’ stadium tour  kicking off in Yankee Stadium on July 19.  [Billboard]
