The Show Must Go On, An Injured Mariah Carey Performs In Studded Sling for MLB All Star Charity
One injured shoulder don’t stop no show, just ask Mariah Carey. Over the weekend, 43-year-old diva performed in a blinged-out fashionable sling on Central Park’s Great Lawn for the 2013 MLB All-Star Charity Concert. It was for the benefit of Superstorm Sandy victims. [Earlier in the week, she injured herself while shooting for a video with rapper Young Jeezy. She was taken to the hospital, where doctors reset her shoulder.] Before going on stage for her performance, she shared on twitter:
Thanks all for the well wishes. Still in a lot of pain – cracked rib, fractured shoulder, bruises everywhere, but the show must go on. In a sling, but will do my best to make it look good w/ the ensemble Sat w/ the NY philharmonic, an amazing honor for such a great cause.
During her set, she told the crowd that she
was in a tiny bit of pain, but I’m OK.
She jokingly added:
I’m not in the best of health. I’m filming this for my own self for incredible laughs.
Randy Jackson played guitar when Mariah sang “#Beautiful” and a choir joined the singer when she closed her set with “Hero.” Major League Baseball made a $1 million donation for Sandy relief efforts. The wife and daughter of MLB legend Jackie Robinson, Rachel and Sharon Robinson, were also in attendance. Check out some footage:
