Michael Ealy Kept New Baby Secret Because He Didn’t Want the Drama From the Public
Earlier this month, fans were shocked to learn that not only was actor Michael Ealy married, but he was also a father. The ‘About Last Night‘ shared that he is now a father, while visiting the Steve Harvey show. During his segment, Steve asked him:
You’ve been married for about a year now, right? You see kids in the future?
He shared,
We have a son.
adding that the boy’s name is Elijah. While he didn’t share additional details about his son, he did note that he couldn’t understand why
people announce the birth of their children.
Fast forward to the present day and Michael is giving us some insight on why he’s remaining low key about fatherhood.
During an interview with ESSENCE, at their ‘Black Women In Hollywood‘ event, he noted that he was apprehensive about sharing the news, because sometimes it causes unwanted drama. He says:
Yeah, well. I’m not really, you know me. I just don’t believe in…I’m not that kind of guy. You know what I mean? And while I treasure the birth of my son and it is a blessing from God, I don’t feel like sharing it with everyone you know is always the best way to treasure it. Sometimes it’s nice. Especially those first couple of months when nobody knows and you’re able to just enjoy fatherhood, without the you know what I mean? Without the drama from the outside. ‘Cuz sometimes that can lead to more drama.
The actor and his wife Khatira Rafiqzada had been together for almost four years when they secretly tied the knot in October 2012.
