Kanye West Sentenced to Anger Management Therapy, Community Service & Probation
Kanye West pleaded no contest Monday (March 17) to misdemeanor battery against a photographer, named Daniel Ramos, at LAX in a special plea in which he maintains his innocence.
While the 36-year-old artist did not attend the hearing, he entered the plea through his attorney. The end result? He was sentenced to two years of probation, 24 anger management therapy sessions and 250 hours of community service.
Reportedly, he did not reach a civil settlement with the photographer, and his plea cannot be used against him in a civil lawsuit.
As previously reported, the altercation between said photog and ‘Ye happened July 2013. Ramos alleges that Kanye punched him in an unprovoked attack and wrestled his camera to the ground during the scuffle. During the hearing, he told the court that the rapper should be in jail and that he was still on medication from the injuries he suffered:
If I did what he did to me, I’d be behind bars. I was doing my job and he broke the law.
Ramos also said he is even more alarmed after watching Kanye’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel.
During his interview, Kanye told the late night talk show host,
It’s not safe for you in this zoo. Never think that I’m not from Chicago for one second.
These comments reportedly make the photog fearful of retaliation.
Prosecutors declined to file felony charges against Kanye. However, city prosecutors will pursue misdemeanor charges.
Kanye is no stranger to negative interactions with paparazzi. In 2008, he was involved in a scuffle with photogs inside a LAX terminal. The case was dismissed after he agreed to pay for the photographer’s broken equipment and completed anger management classes.
Totally unrelated to his unfortunate issues with photogs, earlier this year he reached a civil settlement with a man he was accused of assaulting in a Beverly Hills medical office. An 18-year-old man allegedly used a racial slur in an argument with Ye’s fiancee, Kim Kardashian.
No official statement has been released from Kanye’s camp. P.S. Should Kanye’s sentencing have been tougher, given his past issues with photogs or was the judge’s ruling more than fair, considering the circumstances?

Fair for now, but he will do it again. He needs therapy.
I’m not a big Kanye fan.But,what I never hear anyone talk about is how he lost his mother.And I might add unexpectedly.That would be a devastating blow to most people,even more so if you were close to your parent.And also she was the only parent he had.I’m not saying that should give him an excuse to be a fool.But,I know if this was Brad Pitt or Ben Afflack(not sure of spelling).Anytime one of these men would have acted out that’s the first thing that would be said to excuse their outburst(well you know he’s devastated by the lost of his mother).I just think that the media handles black males differently.Look at the way their handling Justine Beiber.No,he hasn’t violently attacked anyone.But,he getting a pat on the wrist.Yes,I think what he got was far.But,as someone who has lost both parents whom I was close to.It can put you in a dark sad place.I just never hear that spoken about when it comes to his behavior.
It dont matter he is not a kid, he is a grown ass man it dont matter anyways he will never learned watch I tell u.
You don’t have to be a child to be effected by the lost of a parent.
