(EXCLUSIVE) Floyd Mayweather Scores $$$ In Lawsuit Over Illegal Use of His Image For Super Bowl Party
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports Floyd Mayweather beat his opponent once again — this time in federal court. A judge awarded the boxing champ with money in his suit against a wine bar who was untruthful to the public and claimed he was hosting a Super Bowl party, despite him being unaware of it.
Mayweather filed suit last year against a New Orleans wine bar named The Wine Bistro, who he said lied by promoting their Super Bowl bash last year claiming he was hosting the event.
He explained he usually is paid $100k per appearance and he never agreed to appear at The Wine Bistro and his no-show could hurt his reputation when being booked for appearances.
Mayweather reportedly, even accused The Wine Bistro of adding The Money Team in promotions which he said made the public into believing anyone from Justin Bieber, Lil Kim or 50 Cent might be in attendance.
The legal battle has been going for over a year, until recently Floyd was granted his motion for a default judgement due to the bar blowing off the entire legal battle.
According to the order, the federal court agreed with Mayweather in that the Wine Bistro did lie to the public by promoting the boxer as a host for their Super Bowl bash, when in fact he never agreed to host their party.
Further, according to the docs, the judge said that the wine bar knowingly lied to the public and did not take any action to remove the boxers images from their website or promotion after they received his cease and desist letter.
Mayweather was awarded $2,250 in damages, $17,408.48 in attorney fees and granted an injunction against the bar from ever using his name or likeness without permission again. See the exclusive court docs.
