T.I. Defends Iggy Azalea: Not all white people want to steal our culture.

TI-Defends Iggy Azaelia-Against QTip-the jasmine brand

Over the weekend, rapper Q-Tip gave Iggy Azalea a history lesson of sorts about social responsibility in hip-hop, along with how blacks were and are sometimes treated negatively in the entertainment industry. In a series of tweets, he posted a lengthy message that began with a few facts from the ’70’s. [Click here to read the Tweets from Q-Tip’s timeline]. Keep in mind, Q-Tip’s vent comes on the heels of Azealia Banks voicing her displeasure for Iggy.

So what’s the latest? Iggy’s mentor, rapper T.I., has jumped to the Australian rapper’s defense. In a series of Tweets, he weighs in on Q-Tip’s recent comments and supports his artist. He writes:

Yes @IGGYAZALEA @QtipTheAbstract all these facts are true. This is useful info to absorb as U find yourself in da midst of several people … who U may not share many things in common with besides #HipHop. Understanding the plight assists U in knowing how to accept, respect…& live in harmony even without a boatload of similarities. Also what I think my big Bruh kinda left out is that OUR people (blacks in America, & HIPHOP) have had much less qualified White People…come along & manipulate our culture for their own pers gain. This lead to an almost incoherent overly defensive, paranoid sense of…”All White People Wanna Steal Our Shit” mentality. Now as

Azealia Banks needs prayer…she is a bully. What has Iggy done so bad that makes her dislike her. Did Eminem have these problems when he first started rapping? Embrace her….she enjoys hip hop music and is damn good at it. Is Azealia jealous…does she want what Iggy has (the looks, body, and the man)? Azealia stop being a school yard bully and move on.

      Hey T.I. girl,
I see you out here caping on blogs for your “artist”. Azealia Banks spoke the TRUTH about Iggy appropriating Black culture. Eminem came with his authentic trailer park experience, acknowledged his White privilege and expressed that it has advanced his career. Iggy came from Australia with her faux Atlanta meets Da Brat sound, speaking the about experiences that are not hers and making money off Black culture while Black women with more talent and authentic experience can’t get deals. That is White privilege and systemic oppression. Period.

Oh and your own self-hate and implicit bias is showing in your laughable comment that Azealia would be jealous of Iggy’s looks! Black women are the most beautiful women in all of creation. #LoveYourself

While I do think Azelea language was rough in expressing her dislike toward TI and his artist.I wish we loved ourselves more than others.TI should remember what happened to the Native Americans. Many say they come in peace. You cant always tell whos friend or foe.

I use to like TI. I’ve lost all respect for him now. I get it, Iggy is $$$ in the bank for him but I can’t stand him pretending like she isn’t a thief! … On another note, I think that hip hop should hold everyone to the same standard. How can we accept the Young Thugs in hip hop and not Iggy? They are both garbage!

i feel like it was a white girl there is more of a problem because black girls get think white women are taking their man….i see this as a whole women issue, we women cause drama, we care more for attention of a man then being strong, its so said this white and black, it makes me think twice about having kids because I just don’t know where this culture is going, everyone! is playing the victim its like the only thing that we can keep and not change about ourselves is our skin color so we always use it as a weapon….I watched Azealea banks interview and i am a white girl and i felt for her alot, she said alot of truth about this cold harsh world! and this is what the rich people who rule everything want us to keep doing, fighting each other over color and culture because it better for their buisness and this is not just rich white people this is rich all color people, its said that one would be little their own race but when the color GREEN is all around you and the lavish lifestyle, feelings are minimal! I Love my fellow sisters of all colors they have taught me so much more of being a women! and its so sad that we live in a world where we are the puppets! IGGY makes music that i do pump to on the radio but not buy an album, but she does need to realize she is not a rapper, she is made and everyone can see it because RAP is lyrical poetry! speaking on life and problems! like NAS! and TUPAC! real shit that meant something! Its even said for me as white girl to have to deal with this! like to I have to say im sorry because of all of this, I didn’t do anything wrong, but some women of my race did so I need to feel bad! its just a crazy mixed up world!
