(EXCLUSIVE) Reality Star Mariah Huq Talks ‘Married to Medicine’ Drama, If She’ll Return Next Season + New TV Projects

This season Married to Medicine’s original cast member and executive producer Mariah Huq barely made an appearance. However, with all she was dealing with (medically, emotionally) who could really blame her? And when she did make her appearance it seemed to be bombarded with negativity, but as always that’s not the full story. theJasmineBRAND.com recently chatted with Mariah, who addressed the Married to Medicine reunion, friendship with cast member Quad Webb-Lunceford, and her future TV show projects. Check out a few excerpts from the interview.
Congratulations on another season of the show. Now you came mid-way through the season, why did you decide to return?
Just to be honest, I have contractual obligations. I’m still attached to the show so I do have to somewhat be there based on my contract as it stands. I still have to show up, it’s still a job for me.
Do you feel like you’re accurately portrayed this season?
Not at all. I think it’s clear that they didn’t show anything I was going through. They wanted to make it seem like the menace started when I came back. Everything I went through health-wise, had tumors removed, I lost a baby—and so they didn’t show any of that. I filmed for seven, maybe eight days straight where everyone was filmed four months. At the time, I wasn’t caught up in the drama that was going on with the ladies, I was more concerned about my health and my family at the time.
Now this season seemed to be very challenging for you and your husband. Was it hard sharing that in front of the cameras?
It was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through in my 36 years. It was very hard, unfortunately even as a creator, I don’t control the editing and it’s such a prodigal time and it’s personal and so dealing with those types of issues on TV it was really hard. I knew people weren’t going to be respectful of that, in terms of my cast mates.
