Lee Daniels Sued Over Non-Payment of Residuals
Lee Daniels’ companies has been sued by SAG-AFTRA, over their alleged failure to pay $335,000 in residuals to performers, along with other payments related to his 2005 film “Shadowboxer”, according to Variety.
The Screen Actors Guild?American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) is an American labor union representing over 160,000 film and television principal and background performers, journalists, and radio personalities worldwide.
The complaint was filed against Shadowboxer LLC and Lee Daniels Entertainment. Variety reports:
The action alleged that Daniels’ companies had made “Shadowboxer,” a crime thriller starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Helen Mirren, Stephen Dorff and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, pursuant to the terms of the SAG collective bargaining agreement for independent producers but failed to make payments or send the required reports about the distribution of the movie.
