Bill Cosby’s Wife Camille Cosby Forced to Testify
It appears that Bill Cosby’s wife will be taking the stand. A Massachusetts court has denied a motion by Camille Cosby, to quash her deposition order — according to CNN. Camille Cosby will now have to testify in a defamation suit brought against her husband. The site reports,
Seven plaintiffs allege that the “defendant drugged and/or sexually assaulted each” of them, according to a court document denying Camille Cosby’s request. They are among 50 women who accuse the star of drugging them and raping or fondling them. Cosby has steadfastly denied wrongdoing.
On Thursday, Cosby’s lawyers called the sexual assault charges a flawed, politically motivated case that will not hold up in court.
According to the Associated Press,
they are expected to try to gut the prosecution’s case or get it thrown out altogether by a variety of means, including preventing some of Cosby’s numerous other accusers from taking the stand; blocking the use of testimony he gave in a decade-old lawsuit; and making an issue out of the 12 years it took to file charges. “I have my doubts they get this to a jury anytime soon,” said Los Angeles defense attorney Mark Geragos, noting the thorny legal issues and Cosby’s advanced age (78) and infirmities, namely his badly deteriorating eyesight. Geragos, who is not involved in the case, added: “Generally, time is a friend of the defense.”
On New Year’s Eve, Cosby tweeted:
Friends and fans, Thank You.
