Kevin Hart ‘What Now?’ Ties For No. 2 At Box Office
Congrats to Kevin Hart! His stand-up comedy film, ‘Kevin Hart: What Now?‘ opened to $12 million domestically from 2,567 theaters. The film tied with ‘The Girl on the Train‘ for the No. 2 spot. His last film, Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain, made a $10 million debut, which went to become one of the top-grossing stand-up comedy pics of all time in 2013. This is the highest opening of Hart’s stand up comedy concert films. Universal distribution chief Nick Carpou says,
He’s a genuine comedic movie star, and the definition of what’s funny today.
In the film, Hart performs at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, providing a humorous insight into politics, current events and everyday life. The show was filmed live on August 30, 2015 in front of 53,000 people at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, with a live dress rehearsal for a small, intimate audience filmed at the stadium the night before on August 29, 2015. Directed by Tim Story, the film also features appearances by Halle Berry and Don Cheadle.
Over the weekend, Hart surprised a few movie theaters, popping up on fans who were checking out his latest film.
