Alexandra Shipp In Talks To Star In New Film
Actress Alexandra Shipp is in talks to star in the film adaptation of “Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda” based on the hit YA novel written by Becky Albertalli. The coming-of-age story focuses on a closeted gay teen. When an email written by Simon falls into the wrong hands, he becomes at risk of his secret going public. Change-averse Simon is forced to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out — in a way that won’t alienate his friends, compromise himself or ruin a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he hasn’t even met yet.
Shipp, is well known for portraying singer Aaliyah in VH1’s 2014 film “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B” and the Drumline sequel “Drumline: The New Beat” as Dani Bolton. More recently, she starred as Ice Cube’s wife Kimberly Woodruff in the 2015 hit film “Straight Out Of Compton” starring Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell and O’Shea Jackson Jr. She will also be reprising her role as Storm/Ororo Munroe in the next X-Men film.
Nick Robinson and Logan Miller will star alongside Shipp.
