EXCLUSIVE: Floyd Mayweather –$3.3 Mill Tax Lien Released, Still Owes $29 Mill
Floyd Mayweather Jr Still Owes $29 Million in Taxes
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Floyd Mayweather Jr can breathe a little easier now that a $3.3 million federal lien has been released by the IRS – due to it being paid in full – which only leaves him with another $29 million owed in back taxes.
Back in April, the IRS hit Mayweather with a $22.2 million federal tax lien. Uncle Sam accused him of failing to pay his 2015 taxes, the year he scored a nine-figure payday for his fight with Manny Pacquiao.
Days later, Mayweather headed to tax court to file for a temporary reprieve from the IRS for more time to pay his bill, saying he didn’t have the cash on hand.
Further, he has an outstanding tax bill for 2010 in the amount of $7.2 million, leaving him with a grand total of $29.4 million currently owed.
The good news is, it looks like Floyd handled one tax issues with the government – due to a federal tax lien being released on July 19th.
According to official records in Clark County, Nevada, an IRS lien release was filed by the IRS relating to a lien originally filed in 2011, which accused Mayweather of refusing to pay $3.4 million for 2009, when he grossed $9.4 mill in a fight with Juan Manuel Marquez.
The IRS release means Mayweather recently settled his tax bill and Uncle Sam is no longer on the hunt for that cash, but close to beginning collections on the $29.4 million.
