Nicki Minaj’s Cryptic “N*gga Sit Down” Tweet Directed At Taylor Swift?
Nicki Minaj’s Tweet Directed At Taylor Swift?
Let the speculation begin! A simple tweet from Nicki Minaj, quoting a hit rap song, has some speculating as to whether or not she’s taking aim at Taylor Swift. Thursday (August 24th), Minaj hopped on Twitter, writing:
N*gga sit down. Be humble.
The line is from Kendrick Lamar’s song “HUMBLE.” Minaj sent the tweet less than an hour after Taylor Swift released her fiery new single, Look What You Made Me Do.
Swift’s new track (check it out above) is said to be taking a few shots at her feuds with Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and Katy Perry.
Over the past few years, there has been tension between Swift and Minaj. In July 2015, Minaj was vocal about her being disappointed with her popular video for “Anaconda” not receiving a nod for Video of the Year the MTV Video Music Awards. At the time, she wrote,
If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.
While she didn’t call Swift out by name, (Swift’s “Bad Blood” was nominated and eventually won) she (Swift) responded,
I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.
Minaj went on to implore Swift to speak out on why the rap star wasn’t nominated, and Swift eventually tweeted an invitation for the rapper to join her onstage if she won.
Eventually, the mega stars moved on and they performed together at the VMAs. But just this year, Minaj hopped on Katy Perry’s supposed Swift diss track, “Swish Swish.” (The video for Perry’s song was released this week and features Minaj.)
In other Minaj news, she’s currently featured on gospel artist Tasha Cobbs’ “I’m Getting Ready.” Listen to the teaser below.
