Timbaland: I Was Addicted To OxyContin & Almost Overdosed
Timbaland Was Addicted to Pain Killers
Timbaland (real name Timothy Zachery “Tim” Mosley) was addicted to a powerful prescription drug. During a recent interview, the 45-year-old mega music producer admitted that at one point in his career, he was addicted to Oxycotin.
He says that he began taking the pills during his 30’s, in order to help with the pain he experienced from nerve damage he suffered from a gunshot wound as a teenager. However, he began to abuse Oxy when his marriage ended and he wasn’t working as much.
Once you’re not popping, it plays with your mind. The pills helped block out the noise — I’d just sleep all day.
His girlfriend Michelle also admitted that she was scared for his life. She said,
It was so bad, to the point where I couldn’t even sleep. I’d put my hand right by his nose, just to see if he was still breathing.
Timbaland says he almost overdosed three years ago.
All I can tell you is that there was a light. I woke up trying to catch my breath, like I was underwater. But through that whole thing I saw life — I saw where I would be if I don’t change, and where I would be if I did.
