Tiffany Haddish Had A Restraining Order Against Ex Who Denies Ever Beating Her
Despite William Stewart’s claims that he did NOT physically abuse his now famous ex wife Tiffany Haddish, there are legal documents claiming otherwise. This week, we reported that Stewart denied abuse claims that Haddish wrote in her new memoir, The Last Black Unicorn. In the book, she alleged she experienced domestic violence while married to him. Williams denied this, stating in an interview:
I married Tiffany, her issues, and not the Hollywood lifestyle. I have never beat or hit or called a woman a ‘MF or B’ while having a disagreement ever in my life. I never caused a miscarriage, I have documents to prove this. Tiffany advised me about a month ago about the book and she told me that I would be furious.
However, Haddish did file documents back in July 2011, against her then husband. At the time, she filed for a restraining order against Stewart. In the docs, the Girls Trip break-out star claimed Stewart attacked her July 2010 in Montreal, where she was performing with other comedians. She stated in the documents,
We were in Montreal, Canada, when he choked me in the stairway of the hotel. I ran away from him. I ran because he was trying to make me stay in the room. But I wanted to stay in the lobby and talk to my fellow comedians.
She claims to have received bruises from the altercation. During a separate altercation, June 2011, Haddish said he attacked her and she suffered,
[A] black eye, bruised neck, elbow, and back.
Haddish also said that he choked her and threw her up against a wall. The comedian was granted a temporary restraining order. However, she later dropped it, in an effort to work on their marriage. The couple divorced two years later.
