EXCLUSIVE: Sean Kingston’s Arrest Warrant Dropped, Judge Warns Him to Show Up to Court
Sean Kingston’s Arrest Warrant Dropped
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, Sean Kingston has scored a victory. Earlier this month, a Florida judge dropped a warrant for his arrest.
Here’s the latest: A judge granted the singer’s motion to dismiss the warrant, but ordered Kingston to appear for a deposition in the case to be questioned under oath by the jeweler.
The court order explains he is to be in Florida on March 1st for the deposition and if he doesn’t show up, ANOTHER warrant for his arrest will be issued plus other sanctions.
Here’s the backstory: Last month, Kingston asked a judge to not have him arrested. The 27-year-old artist filed docs responding to an ongoing legal battle with Florida-based Haimov Jewelers. He filed a motion to rescind the warrant for his arrest.
He had a warrant out for his arrest for failing to appear in court. Police were ordered to arrest him on sight, noting that if he was arrested, he would only be released from jail if he posted $40,000 bond.
Due to ‘financial efficiency’, Kingston was representing himself in the case. He alleged that he was not properly served with the court documents and that he was appearing in court to take responsibility for any judgement. However, he did say that the judgement awarded to the jewelers does not account for items that were returned to the jeweler.
He claimed he recently tried to reach an agreement with the jewelers, but they refused to accept a payment plan or credit him for items that were returned.
Kingston was sued by the jeweler who accused him of owing $44k. They alleged that he did not pay for items loaned to him, including a Rolex. He never appeared in court and a default judgement was entered in the amount of $314,138.22.
