Pharrell’s Billionaire Boys Club Sued by Blind Man
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, Pharrell Williams’ Billionaire Boys Club is being sued. The 44-year-old’s line is being sued for not accommodating blind and visually impaired customers.
Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream is an American and Japanese clothing retailer featuring two lines of clothing established by Pharrell Williams and Nigo, founder of clothing label BAPE.
The lines consist of T-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, knits, denim, suits and shirts; outerwear in leather, down, cotton, and technical fabrics; hats, sneakers, underwear, socks and accessories.
The suit was filed this month by Victor Lopez and states,
“Plaintiff brings this civil rights action against BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB, LLC AND BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB AND ICE CREAM RETAIL OPERATIONS, LLC (“Defendant” or “COMPANY”) for its failure to design, construct, maintain, and operate its website to be fully accessible to and independently usable by Plaintiff and other blind or visually-impaired people. Defendant’s denial of full and equal access to its website, and therefore denial of its products and services offered thereby and in conjunction with its physical locations, is a violation of Plaintiff’s rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”).
The suit says that the clothing line’s website, WWW.BBCICECREAM.COM (the “Website” or
“Defendant’s website”), is not equally accessible to blind and visually- impaired consumers, it violates the ADA. Plaintiff seeks a permanent injunction to cause a change in Defendant’s corporate policies, practices, and procedures so that Defendant’s website will become and remain accessible to blind and visually-impaired consumers.
Lopez is suing for an undisclosed amount.
