Jamie Foxx Set To Star as ‘Spawn’
Jamie Foxx has just snagged another deal! The Beat Shazam host will star in the film adaptation of Spawn. Todd McFarlane, who is the creator of the distinguished comic book series, will also be directing the film. Jason Blum, CEO of Blumhouse Productions, will be producing the film.
In a recent interview, McFarlane says that he was so determined to have Jamie as a character.
I said, I’m going to Jamie first and until he says no I don’t want to think about anyone else because I’ve never had anyone else in my head. Luckily, he hadn’t forgotten either. I said, ‘Hey, I’m back to talk about Spawn again, and he was like, let’s do it.’
Foxx also shared his excitement about the project stating,
He [McFarlane] was taken aback when I told him with the enthusiasm of a young child that more than anything I wanted to put my name in the hat to embody his beloved character Spawn…. I told him no one would work harder than me if given the opportunity… well… the opportunity is here!! I’m humbled and ready to transform…
The film will be added to Jamie’s long list of acclaimed projects. Foxx has starred in films such as “Ray” (released in 2004), “Django Unchained” (Released in 2012), “Sleepless” (Released in 2017), and a new
film set to premiere this November, “Robin Hood.”
Spawn comes ahead of the premiere of the second season of Beat Shazam, which Jamie will be starring alongside his co-host and daughter, Corinne Foxx.
