Witness In Rapper C-Murder’s Conviction Admits Police Forced Him to Lie on Stand

Imprisoned rapper, C-Murder is cautiously optimistic, after a key witness in his murder conviction, changed his story this week. The witness, Kenneth Jordan, now says the police forced him to lie when he testified that the rapper shot and killed a teenage fan named Steve Thomas, at a nightclub in 2002. With Jordan recanting, C-Murder, real name Corey Miller, asked a judge to throw out his murder conviction. In a sworn affidavit filed in the 24th Judicial District Court, Jordan says,

I know that the individual who I saw shoot the gun was not Corey Miller.

According to the witness and C-Murder’s attorney, the prosecutor and the police forced Jordan to make false statements, by threatening him with criminal charges in another matter.

C-Murder’s attorney stated,

He was really their star witness at the second trial. Without him, they don’t get a conviction. 

The lawyer has now filed a memorandum seeking a new trial for his client. To his credit, C-Murder has always maintained his innocence. The platinum recording artist is the younger brother of legendary rapper Master P. C-Murder has released nine albums on six different labels, No Limit Records, TRU Records, Koch Records, Asylum Records, RBC Records and Venti Uno. Miller is currently serving a life sentence for the 2002 murder of Thomas.

After a 2003 murder trial, the judge threw out the conviction, ruling that prosecutors had withheld information about witnesses in the case. In 2009 however, due largely to the witness and his false testimony, a jury voted 10-2 to convict C-Murder on Aug. 11, 2009, Thomas death. He was sentenced to life in prison. The teenager used a fake id to sneak in the club that night and was killed after a fight broke out in the now-closed venue.

Now that Jordan’s affidavit has been filed, the judge presiding over the case may either grant the request to thrown out Miller’s conviction, deny it or order a hearing on the matter, Barker said. Miller, who has always proclaimed his innocence in Thomas’ death, was relieved to hear about Jordan. The Sheriff’s Office and the district attorney’s office would not comment on the case.
