Ariana Grande Accused of Stealing Concepts From Princess Nokia, Soulja Boy Chimes In
“7 Rings” is less than 24 hours old and Ariana Grande is already under fire for the new single! The pop princess made a saucy transition to trap music with the next single from her upcoming album, “thank u, next,” and many think the song is unoriginal. In fact, rapper Princess Nokia came forward, noting that the delivery and content of Ariana’s lyrics, “I want it, I got it” sound eerily similar to her song, “Mine.” Princess Nokia’s lyrics are. “It’s mine, I bought it.” Nokia took to Instagram, insinuating she’s been a victim of cultural appropriation. She said:
“Does that sound familiar to you, ’cause it sounds really familiar to me! Oh my God! Wait, ain’t that the little song I made about Brown women and their hair? Hmm. Sounds about white.”
Meanwhile, Dallas traffic anchor Demetria Obilor (a.k.a., #TrafficBae) thinks the cadence to Ariana Grande’s new song sounds similar to the stagger-flow of Soulja Boy‘s “Pretty Boy Swag.”

Soulja Boy even chimed in, reposting Demetria’s news segment. He used this caption in the inflection of a segment of his recent “Breakfast Club” interview. He said:
“@souljaboy Arianaaaa?????? Ariana?!”

Are Ariana Grande and her “7 Rings” co-writing team – Victoria Monet and Tayla Parx – guilty of borrowing concepts?
