Meek Mill Compares Record Label Owners To Slave Masters
Philadelphia rapper, Meek Mill shared his thoughts on record labels and owners “preying” on the new generation of up and coming artists. Meek, 31, (real name Robert Williams), spoke out on social media by giving a warning to record labels while advocating for younger artists.
Meek says record label owners will be viewed as a slave master if they continue to take advantage of signing new artist unfairly.
“All records labels should start letting artist ownership or you will be viewed as a slave master! Make it even for both sides the ones putting money up and the creator!!! Is even too much?”
Meek continues,
“And I was speaking for the new artist, the young 18 year old kids that’s prolly in poverty that get preyed on by big companies with offers for a small fees like a million dollars knowing they will make 50 million back off them and still not offering ownership.”
Seems as Meek is on a roll this week. As previously reported, he also called out comedian Michael Rapaport, after a series of tweets over Meek’s style of rap. Rapaport blasted Meek after his NBA All-Star performance, calling the Philly rapper, “Trash.”
“Meek Mill, great story. Great look. Trash rapper. Sorry”
Meek clapped back, calling Rapaport, Woody Harrelson from the 1992 movie, ‘White Men Can’t Jump.’
Me: ayo yo who this?
Anonymous: I think it’s the guy from white men can jump?
Him: meek you so fire you give me that feeling what hip hop is missing ima fan “can I get a selfie”?
Hurry up go head
