Kansas City Chiefs Star Tyreek Hill Banned From Team Activities After Audio Alleging Child Abuse & Threats To Fiancee Surface
On Friday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced that their wide receiver, Tyreek Hill has been banned indefinitely from all team activities in the aftermath of disturbing audio that has surfaced of the 3-time Pro Bowler allegedly threatening his fiancée. In the audio, the couple discussed allegations of Hill abusing their 3-year-old son in which he is being accused of breaking his arm. In the alleged audio of the conversation, Hill’s fiancee, Crystal Espinal says,
“A 3-year-old is not going to lie about what happened to his arm. He is terrified of you.”
Hill responds,
“You need to be terrified of me, too, dumb b—-.”
Espinal tells Hill that when she asked the 3-year-old about an injury to the child’s arm, he responds,
“Daddy did it.”
Hill’s son continues to mention that he was abused by his father, Espinal adds,
“He kept saying ‘Daddy punches me,’ which you do when he starts crying. What do you do? You make him open up his arms, and you punch him in the chest. Then if he gets in trouble, you get the belt out.”
Just one day after Johnson County District Attorney Stephen M. Howe announced the charges would not be filed after police were called to Hill’s home, the audio surfaced of the wide receiver’s alleged threats. At the time, Howe said he believed a crime had occurred, but the evidence didn’t clearly establish who committed it, according to reports.
Chiefs general manager, Brett Veach spoke on Hill’s disturbing threats,
“We were deeply disturbed by what we heard. We were deeply concerned. Now, obviously, we have great concern for [fiancée] Crystal [Espinal]. We are greatly concerned for Tyreek. But our main focus, our main concern, is with the young child.”
Veach continues, adding the team will continue to gather more details,
“We are going to continue to gather information and we will make the right decision,”
As far as the couple’s son, he has been removed from their home, according to reports.
“The boy has been removed from his parents’ custody.”
The Pro-Bowler was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016 with the fifth round pick during the NFL draft. Over the last two seasons, Hill caught 162 passes for 2,662 yards and 19 touchdowns.
