Frank Lucas, Ex-Drug Kingpin & Subject Of “American Gangster” Dead At 88
The subject of the 2007 Academy Award-nominated film American Gangster has died. According to reports, the ex-drug kingpin Frank Lucas has passed away at age 88.
Movie fans may best remember Frank Lucas as the notorious drug kingpin played by Denzel Washington in the autobiographical crime-drama American Gangster, released in 2007. Lucas’ life was also depicted in the BET docuseries American Gangster.

Reportedly, Lucas passed in New Jersey as he was being transported to a local hospital due to an unknown health issue and died while in route. His brother was the first to break the news of his passing. Lucas is survived by his seven children.
He was last released from prison back in 1991.
