Master P Tells Tyler Perry To ‘Get Out Your Feelings’ & Says ‘I’m Not Putting On No Dress To Make No Money’ + Believes ‘Black Panther’ Didn’t Benefit Black Community

Master P recently had an awkward encounter with Tyler Perry. He made that clear when he shared his thoughts on the famed director and the fictitious character on The Breakfast Club Tuesday.

Master P said,

“I bumped into Tyler Perry … I’m like man get out your feelings dog. The spirit wasn’t right. I thought he was gonna be like, ‘Yeah big brother I’m proud of you.’ The movie.. ‘I Got The Hookup 2,’ they’re screening was big, the whole city showed up you know. It was just…awkward. Like he was scared or something. Like bro, you know I’m happy for you. It’s enough opportunity for all of us.”

He then referenced Perry’s empowering speech when accepting the Ultimate Icon award the BET Awards last month.

Master P said,

“I tell people all the time, it’s really not that much money for us to make in filmmaking because we don’t own nothing. I heard the speech he said on BET and all that, but guess what? Seven years ago we talked about doing something and then you don’t show up. This was my first time seeing him. I forgot about all that. I’m thinking it’s gonna be like we took the city over.”

When the hosts joked that Perry was mad he didn’t get an invite to the screening, Master P said that he could have just shown up.

Master P also recalled the time he said he would never wear a dress, a piece of clothing that Perry wears when portraying Madea. Master P added,

“That’s the truth. I don’t care who it is. I’m not putting no dress on to make no money. It’s not meaning to nobody. So I don’t know if people take that the wrong way. That’s on [Tyler]. I don’t care about that. I feel like we all got our opinions. That’s just me as a man.”

He also shared his thoughts on Black Panther and said it didn’t benefit the Black community because African Americans didn’t own it.

“We didn’t benefit off of that. Because Black people were in the movie, we were excited. But it wasn’t us.”
