R. Kelly Is Afraid For His Life In Prison, Feels Safer In Solitary Confinement

R. Kelly is just fine with being held in solitary confinement while in jail… because he’s reportedly afraid for his life.

The singer is behind bars while facing 13 counts for child pornography, enticement of a minor and obstruction of justice.

And apparently, he’s afraid of his inmates considering his history of being involved with minor girls for the last couple of decades.

His lawyer, Nicole Blank Becker, said that Kelly feels safer in solitary confinement. Still, considering Kelly reportedly can’t read or write very well, being in solitary confinement means no one can help him out with even the smallest things.

Instead of being able to use the phone anytime he wants, like those in the general population, Kelly only gets 5 minutes a month. He also can’t watch TV or use the internet. He also reportedly has no supporters behind bars.

There’s no telling how long he’ll be in prison as he was denied bail earlier this week. And prosecutors say they have more than a dozen sex tapes that feature Kelly and minors.

Meanwhile, his lawyer, Steve Greenberg, also released a statement on Kelly’s behalf via social media July 12, just days before his bail was denied.

“As has been reported, Robert Kelly was arrested by federal agents last night while walking his dog. The agents were courteous and professional, as was Mr. Kelly. The charges arose from alleged conduct in the Northern District of Illinois as well as the Eastern District of New York. The conduct alleged appears to largely be the same as the conduct previously alleged against Mr. Kelly in his current State indictment and his former State charges that he was acquitted of. Most, if not all of the conduct alleged, is decades old.”

“Mr. Kelly was aware of the investigations and the charges were not a surprise. He had already assembled a team of outstanding federal litigators. He and his lawyers look forward to his day in court, to the truth coming out and to the vindication from what has been an unprecedented assault by others for their own personal gain. Most importantly he looks forward to being able to continue making wonderful music and perform for his legions of fans that believe in him.”
