Producer Hit-Boy Reflects On Going Completely Broke After Achieving Success & Earning Millions: I Had Zero Dollars, Investing In The Homies
They same fame comes with a price!
It seems music producer Hit-Boy learned that lesson the hard way. While visiting DJ Akademiks podcast “Off The Record”, the 35-year-old opened up about having zero dollars in his bank account after he earned millions working with industry greats.

Telling the story of how things went down, Hit-Boy, real name Chauncey Alexander Hollis Jr., stated:
“Thinking back….I had a big a** label and artist deal…this is coming off N*iggas in Paris – the height height height of being a popping producer,”
He continued:
“Get a deal, I get M’s, I go get a crib in Tarzana in the Valley. I move all the homies in. The homies start moving they homies in. They homies start moving they homies in…it just got incredibly f*cked up.”
The Grammy nominated artist went on explain that he purchased a mansion with five studio’s in it and moved all his artists in. Hit-Boy says the entire situation was ultimately a “recipe for disaster”. Much like many Black’s who become successful, the California native credited his reckless spending to simply wanting to be a provider. However, the “give everything to loved ones” financial method seems to be a pitfall many wealthy and famous Black celebs run into.
Hit-Boy went on to explain that his “investments in the homies” led him to having literally no money in his bank account. He remembered the moment, stating:
“That sh*t don’t always work out how you think it’s gone work out….I turned up [in] 2012, got dumb bread. By 2017, I was laying on my ground with zero dollars in my account after having millions. Balled up in a fetus crying with nobody around me.”

He continued:
“I blew it. I was investing in the homies. I was putting up money for everybody around me. And I wasn’t even buying ice and whips back then like I am now because I’m way more elevated than I ever was.”
Since his financial downfall it seems the beat maker has certainly learned his lesson. Hit-Boy says he’s making more money now than ever, and refuses to make the same mistakes again. The famed musician has continued to climb the ladder of music success, working with top industry artists such as Beyoncé and Rihanna. Hit-Boy is also credited with creating Travis Scott’s #1 hit “Sicko Mode” which featured Drake.
The musician has also been working on his solo rap career. Hit-Boy released a project titled “Fire Proof” earlier this year, and a record titled “Tony Fontana III” with Curren$y in October.
